Keep Ticks Away in Every Season!

I’ve had my bouts with tick bites and gone through the antibiotic cycles just to be safe. I really prefer to avoid that, of course.

Enter Sawyer Permethrin.

Permethrin is a formula that is safe for humans but destroys the central nervous systems of certain insects, including ticks, chiggers and mosquitoes (in my experience). It’s not bug spray—you don’t spray it on and go about your business. Instead, you spray it on your clothes outdoors, soaking them in it (according to the instructions) and let them dry. They’ll survive washing and maintain their coat of insect defense for a few weeks! You can reapply later.

I prefer the aerosol spray, above. I actually have a few seasons worth of it ready to go at any time.

And it’s not just for our spring gobbler (or deer woods) camo, either!

I soak the inside of my hunting blinds with this product, too, to prevent spiders from laying eggs all over the inside of the blinds while they’re out in the woods. Why bring those insect nests back into your house or garage to hatch? Prevent them from nesting their in the first place.

These products are safe for humans, but keep them away from your cats. Cats can be affected by this in large amounts. Better safe than sorry—don’t let your cats wear your camo or hunt out of your blind. :)

Want to make spraying easier? These snap and spray handles for your aerosol cans are just the ticket. I use them on paint cans and this spray, too. (Forgive the Steel Panther shirt, haha.)

Good luck out there!
