Is the Burris Oracle X a "Game-Changer" of a Scope?

I was a little nervous about this scope. I used my beloved Excalibur Twilight DLX for a decade, after all! But, just like the time comes when Ol’ Bunjie needs an upgrade, so do scopes! New technology does create new opportunities, after all.

This device combines a rangefinder and a scope for your crossbow, all in one. The laser rangefinder precisely aquires distances and when properly set up, adjusts the red do on the reticles for pin point accuracy! Installation and setup wasn’t too bad, and in all honesty we had it up and running on Bunjie III in an hour or two. I am sure I could do it all over again in less time, once I got my head around how to do it. Watch the video, below, for all the details!

I am no longer nervous about this scope…quite the opposite: I can wait to get out and shoot with it again. I am actually excited about installing it on the older, slower Bunjie to see how it likes that crossbow, with 600 grain arrows, perhaps! I can say it will accompany me into the woods this year on Bunjie III.

One of the things I wrote about in my book, The Death by Bunjie Crossbow Method: Strategies for Crossbow Hunting Success, is the fact that when you change one thing on a crossbow, it changes something else. And then you have to address that, too. It can be a pain. In this case, the Burris Oracle X sits a little high, and requires a better cheek weld. For that I went with God’A Grip, and I “god’a” say, I really like it. The one below is not the exact one I bought—I actually called Mike from God’A Grip and got his advice on the correct size and fit for the Scorpyd. Every crossbow is different. You can check these out here, though.

And a fancy scope like that needs to be protected from dust and weather, right? Enter the Scope Slicker. This one (I chose Medium) fits this scope just right:
